Dock-diving dogs return

Some of the top-ranked dogs in the sport of dock diving will compete July 2-4 at the Great American Dawg Jump at Oconee Veterans Park on Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville.

Dixie Dock Dogs, a nonprofit organization benefiting various canine charities, is producing the event, which features dogs galloping down a dock and flying through the air to splash down into a pool of water.

Dixie Dock Dogs is affiliated with the national organization DockDogs USA.

Last year’s Great American Dawg Jump attracted about 1,000 people. Some brought their dogs to learn dock diving and compete while others came to watch the dogs compete.
